Many Golf owners stay loyal to the model. So it is with Haynes manuals. The first one for the VW Golf was published in 1974 and the latest version is the eighth in the series. As with the Golf, the latest manual continues to be a reliable product - all Haynes Manuals are written following a complete stripdown and rebuild of a vehicle.

Whether yours is a brand new Golf or Jetta, an older version of the current Volkswagen Golf 'Mk V' or a superseded model, a Haynes manual is an invaluable accompaniment. For even the simplest jobs such as replacing bulbs or fuses and for day-to-day care of your car, such as fluid checks, a Haynes manual explains in detail what to do. They are more detailed and contain more illustrations and useful tips than the manufacturer's manual supplied with a new car.

Once your car is a few years old and outside the warranty period, a Haynes manual can help you save money on regular maintenance. It also enables you to tackle some repairs - each task is graded so you know what is within your competence.

With the introduction of this latest manual, owners or prospective purchasers of VW Golf and Jetta petrol and diesel models (04 - 07) 53 to 07 have the reassurance that any faults they encounter can be diagnosed and, if they feel competent, can be repaired. Additionally, as with all Haynes manuals, there are guidelines for regular maintenance and schedules for servicing.

Haynes manuals contain sections on:

  • Maintenance - simple weekly check to keep you on the road
  • Servicing - complete, fully illustrated step-by-step guides
  • Fault finding - information helping you to pinpoint specific problems easily
  • Brakes - safety checks and repairs for the home mechanic
  • and Haynes Tips - valuable short cuts to make many tasks easier.

Because Haynes manuals are written from hands-on experience, there are practical step-by-step explanations for each task with informative illustrations. Each job is rated so that readers can determine whether it is within their competence and there are details of any special tools required.
