Haynes to unlock unseen archives of the Daily Mirror

 When Football was Football cover

Haynes Publishing has announced today a multi-title book publishing agreement with Mirrorpix, the content licensing division of Trinity Mirror.

Combining the photographic collections of the world famous Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, The People, Daily Record, Sunday Mail and The Daily Herald, Mirrorpix offers one of the largest and most comprehensive photographic libraries.

The archive contains over 50 million historical and contemporary images and spans over a centuries worth of photography.

Mark Hollinshead, Managing Director Trinity Mirror Nationals, said: "Our archives are both fascinating and historically rich, covering many of the major events of the last 100 years and more.

"We are delighted that Haynes will be helping to tell that story and doing justice to the Mirrorpix collections".

Haynes will utilise the extensive photographic archive of Mirrorpix to publish a diverse range of high quality photographic books covering all genres such as pop, celebrity, music, sport and culture.

J Haynes, Managing Director, said: "Haynes is delighted to be working with Trinity Mirror and this exciting collaboration will further increase the depth and breadth of our publishing programme. For several years Haynes has been much more than a niche motoring publisher and has rapidly developed into a lifestyle media brand"

The iconic Haynes brand, already a household name, is one of few publishing companies to have global awareness, thanks initially to worldwide sales of manuals totalling more than 150 million. Three years ago, the company initiated a new licensing and brand extension programme and Haynes licensed products are now well established and available through a wide variety of high street retailers.

Top author Richard Havers has been appointed Consulting Editor for the new range of books. Richard's previous books include Bill Wyman's Blues Odyssey, Rolling with the Stones, co-written with Bill Wyman, Sinatra, an illustrated biography of Frank Sinatra. He has also ghost written My Take, Gary Barlow's Autobiography, and the Brooklyn Boy, Tony Visconti's autobiography. The first two titles Pop and When Football was Football will be launched this autumn, with an additional 14 releases in 2009.
