".it's the paper equivalent of talking to a mate who's happy to help. a great way for owners to save cash by tackling jobs themselves." Auto Express
The Toyota Corolla is the best selling car in the world, selling over 35 million since its 1966 debut, though it has to be said that the original Corolla has little in common with the more recent models apart from the name! The ninth generation Corolla was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show and launched in the UK in 2002 to much acclaim.
One other thing which all Corollas have had in common is an enviable reputation for reliability, provided of course that regular servicing is carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. This is not too difficult as the engine compartment is relatively spacious, and most of the items requiring frequent attention are easily accessible for the DIY mechanic.
With this in mind, Haynes has released a new Owners Workshop Manual covering the Toyota Corolla (2002 - Jan 2007) 51 to 56 (the date when the range was restyled yet again). It is written with hands-on experience gained from the complete strip-down and rebuild of a Corolla in the Haynes Project Workshop. The manual will help you understand, care for and repair your Corolla. Whatever your mechanical ability, the practical step-by-step explanations, linked to over 900 photos, will help you get the job done right.
There are sections on daily, weekly and routine maintenance plus instructions for straightforward jobs such as wiper blade replacement, checking the oil level and changing light bulbs. Also included is advice on preparing for the MOT test, fault-finding charts and useful guidance for driving economically.
A Haynes Workshop Manual will help you get the best value from your vehicle and can do so in several ways: by helping you decide what work must be done (even should you choose to get it done by a garage), by providing information on routine maintenance and servicing, and by giving a logical course of action and diagnosis when random faults occur. However, it is hoped that you will use the manual by tackling the work yourself. On simpler jobs it may be quicker than booking the car into a garage. Perhaps most importantly, a lot of money can be saved by avoiding the costs a garage must charge to cover its labour and overheads. Over 150 million manual users can't be wrong!
Regular servicing and maintenance of your Toyota Corolla will help maintain its resale value, save you money, and make it safer to drive.
As with all Haynes Manuals, there are sections on:
- Maintenance - simple weekly checks to keep you on the road
- Servicing - complete, fully illustrated step-by-step guides
- Fault-finding - helping you to pinpoint specific problems easily
- Brakes - safety checks and repairs for the home mechanic
