One of the now familiar breed of multi-purpose vehicles, the Honda CR-V (Compact Recreational Vehicle) is a common sight on UK roads. The all-new model introduced in 2001 was built in Honda's Swindon plant. All versions come with five doors and four-wheel drive and are well equipped. The power unit is either a 2-litre variable valve timing i-VTEC petrol engine or 2.2-litre diesel engine. Honda reliability is, of course, legendary but garage charges can be high and much money can be saved by even the most basic DIY maintenance. For this reason, Haynes has released a new Haynes Workshop Manual for the Honda CR-V.
Haynes Workshop Manuals have an enviable reputation worldwide for precise, extensively illustrated instructions to enable owners to undertake everything from simple tasks to major overhauls - and avoid costly garage bills. Applying the well-established Haynes formula, the new Honda CR-V Owner's Workshop Manual was written and illustrated following the complete stripdown and re-assembly of one of the models and close examination of others in the range. It covers the 2-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine models made at the end of 2001 up to when the new version was introduced in 2007.
The manual has drawings and close-up photographs to show the locations of all the vehicle components. Tasks are described and photographed in a clear step-by-step sequence, and each one has a complexity rating so that readers can decide whether to do the work themselves or take the vehicle to a garage. There are sections on daily, weekly and routine maintenance, plus instructions for straightforward jobs such as wiper blade replacement. Also included is advice on preparing for the MOT test, fault-finding charts and useful guidance for driving economically.
For more ambitious home mechanics, major overhauls to the engine, suspension and brakes are treated in the same way, with full instructions, illustrations, and a rating for their complexity. When special tools are called for, the manual explains their function and (where possible) how to make a cheaper alternative.
Models Covered:
Honda CR-V 'Mk II' models, 2.0 litre (1998cc) i-VTEC petrol and 2.2 litre (2204cc) i-CDTi diesel
As with all Haynes Manuals, there are sections on:
- Maintenance - simple weekly checks to keep you on the road
- Servicing - complete, fully illustrated step-by-step guides
- Fault-finding - helping you to pinpoint specific problems easily
- Brakes - safety checks and repairs for the home mechanic
- Overhaul - everything from fitting a new oil seal to an engine rebuild
- Electrics - easy-to-read wiring diagrams
- Haynes Tips - valuable short cuts to make many tasks easier
- Fuel saving - expert advice on maximising mpg
- Difficulty ratings - every task is graded from 'beginner' to 'expert'
- Details of tools required
