Question Pedal box?

Can you guys help?

I remember reading a thread on here about making the pedal box and CP16 out of one complete sheet of 3mm

Looking at the drawings it shows CP16 (1mm) as being 277 width and 210 Height.

Pedal box 284mm width (which does include the 16mm section angled at 20 degrees and height as 150mm.

My question is if I made the plate 284mm wide, how tall would it be in one piece?.

I cant add 210mm and 150mm together because they overlap.

Hi,
It needs to fit between TR8 and BR10.
So that is your height.

I make it about 355mm, looking at the book

and i would suggest that if you are making it as one piece then make it out of 3mm steel

Calculating the fold length is a bit more complicated than you would imagine, what size are the V's in you brake press? This is not something you can fold in a hand bender.

I already have the 3mm steel.

So will be making whilst saving the money to buy the chassis complete from Talon.

I dont have a chassis to check or that would be really easy to do.

I cant see it being 355 unless your assumption is with the folds as well.

But even that does not add up properly.

150+25+27+53=255 plus the CP 16 plate of 210=465.

I cant see how 110 would be overlap in the two plate system.

On page 47 Fig 4.21 it shows the CP16 plate, what I need is the distance between the top of CP16 to the top of BR9.

Then I can allow for all the folds later.

If its not that easy then I will just revert back to the book and make in two parts.

The uprights U6&7 are 305mm plus 25mm for BR10 plus 25mm for TR8 = 355mm
you will need to add another 25mm ish for the bends
Not sure where you're getting 466mm from

Is it realy worth the time and effort? Looking at what's avaialbel off the shelf from the usual suppliers your only saving a few quid.

I know it's a challenge, but sometimes it can be these challenges that lead to the ebay "Unfinished Project".

Having now gone out and measured mine, its defo 355.

if you add 25mm for the bend around the bottom rail thats 380mm
There is an extra plate on the bottom for the pedal brackets of 53mm.
Making total of 433mm for the whole plate, not counting what you lose or gain on the bends.

If you are going to make it yourself, then do the bottom bends first then measure up and trim.

Make the plate from one piece top rail to bottom rail and from each side of the two uprights,should give you a plate of approx 350x330 use a piece of 25x25 angle for the mountings and this will give you a nice 90 deg to weld the brackets on and add the flat strip to the floor and fix to it. (or thats what I intend to do)
