With rare insight and enthusiasm, it explores the excitement, diverse design and amazing technology that surround the mountain bike, from the birth of the commercial concept that became the mountain bike to an overview of where they're all heading.

Thorough coverage of the practical side of mountain biking in The Mountain Bike Book includes a detailed look at bike anatomy and specialist kit, as well as riding technique and bike care. This inspiring book captures the very essence of mountain biking, a sport that has, in a generation, rekindled the spirit of adventure that makes us want to get to places under our own steam.

Chapters include:
  • Thorough explanation of the varied disciplines and designs within mountain biking
  • Mountain biking fitness tips for everyone, from beginners to racers
  • Comprehensive but easy-to-understand run-down of bike specification
  • How to look after your bike
  • Full details of specialist riding kit
  • The essentials of off-road riding technique

The author Steve Worland has been riding off-road for about 35 years. He's been a specialist mountain bike journalist for nearly two decades and he's tested about 2,000 bikes for leading MTB monthly publications. He's currently Technical Director of the UK's best-selling bike magazine, Mountain Biking UK.
