Harley-Davidson has a worldwide cult, with a massive, committed fanbase and since the Harley-Davidson's centenary in 2003, where a large amount of Harley related books were published, very few have appeared. This new book, Harley-Davidson: All the motorcycles 1903-1983, is a unique reference, with a level of exhaustive detail never before achieved.
Harley-Davidson: All the motorcycles 1903-1983 is a Harley book with a difference. Never before have all the models - from 1903 to the launch of the Evolution-engined models in 1983 - been so carefully documented in such detail, and although hundreds of books have been published about Harley-Davidson, there has never been one quite like this remarkable volume.
Anything one wants to know about the Harleys of those years, can be found laid out in this formidable reference book - there are extraordinarily detailed facts and figures about the motorcycles made by the Milwaukee company up to 1983, as well as the complete story of the engineering behind these world- famous bikes.
Harley-Davidson: All the motorcycles 1903-1983 works its way methodically through every model of the Harley family with each bike receiving a thorough account of its technical specification and evolution, supported by extensive tabular material. Specification tables provide thorough detail of engine, transmission and cycle parts for each model, performance and production figures. It adds up to a must have work of reference that all fans will want to possess and, naturally, the whole book is extensively illustrated.
The author Matthias Gerst is one of the foremost experts in American car and motorcycle history. Employed as a TÜV engineer in Germany, he has been consulted repeatedly as an officially appointed expert witness to swear in court to the genuineness and authenticity of Harleys.
The photographs in this book are by Dieter Rebmann, one of the best- known German motorcycle photographers and a renowned Harley-Davidson specialist.
