Following the huge success of the first Wallace & Gromit Cracking Contraptions Manual, published last year, Haynes has again picked the brains of Britain's best-loved inventor, and his canine side-kick, to reveal the inner workings of yet more cracking contraptions.

Wallace & Gromit Cracking Contraptions 2 lifts the lid on Wallace's brand new inventions exclusively created for last year's World of Inventions series on BBC One, as well as the marvellous machines built for Aardman's box office hit The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Classic Haynes-style cutaway drawings, fabulous photography and meticulously researched technical descriptions outline exactly how these 'labour-saving devices' work.

The book is illustrated by Graham Bleathman who is well known for his drawings for the cult Gerry Anderson TV series, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Stingray and X-Men annuals.

Welcoming this second Manual, Wallace & Gromit creator, Nick Park of Aardman Animation, said:

"I was so overwhelmed by the success of our first Wallace & Gromit Cracking Contraptions, and so now to have a second volume out is just unbelievable. It is a double honour to bring to Wallace and Gromit fans everywhere a second volume of their ridiculous gadgets and inventions, dissected and beautifully illustrated in that distinctively British Haynes Manual tradition."

In a letter to the Editor, published in the Cracking Contraptions 2 Wallace says:

"I'm so glad that everyone enjoyed the first book ... I'm sure readers who, like Gromit and me, enjoy a modern lifestyle will find plenty here to keep them occupied."

The book includes details of Wallace's new PRONTO PRINT machine (patent pending) created especially for the purpose of printing this new Manual. He adds:

"Everyone at Stains Manuals can now put their feet up and have a cuppa - because I've finished the book for you."

Dozens of well-known contraptions are included in this follow-up title. The internationally acclaimed Bun Vac 6000, which in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit won Wallace Lady Tottington's heart and finished off his love rival Victor, is laid bare for all to see, alongside the Anti-Pesto Launch System, complete with diagrams for all five phases of operation.

Wallace's cellar studio, from World of Invention is revealed, with special attention paid to the Jumbo Generator - a remarkable, if somewhat unorthodox solution to the huge power demands of the television studio. Detailed diagrams and technical descriptions outline how the methane gas emitted from an elephant (Kevin) is harnessed - humanely of course.

Haynes is famous for its car and motorcycle manuals, having sold 150 million worldwide since 1960 and over a million in the UK last year alone. Over the last two years the publisher has been creating manuals for fictional, iconic and historic vehicles including Star Trek's USS Enterprise, Bob the Builder, the Titanic and the NASA Space Shuttle. Manuals for Star Wars' Millennium Falcon and the Route Master Bus will follow in the run up to Christmas.
